CM Majhi Proposes More CIPET Centres in Odisha to Support Petrochemical Growth

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, joined by Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare and Chemicals and Fertilizers, Jagat Prakash Nadda, visited the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology (CIPET) today and proposed the expansion of the institute’s footprint across Odisha to meet the growing demand for skilled manpower in the petrochemical sector.

During the visit, the Chief Minister underscored Odisha’s rapidly emerging role as a petrochemical hub, citing the recent signing of agreements worth over ₹1 lakh crore in the sector. He further noted that under the state’s flagship Utkarsh Odisha initiative, the government has attracted investment proposals amounting to ₹17 lakh crore, with the potential to generate nearly 13 lakh employment opportunities.

“Odisha is poised for a transformative leap in the petrochemical industry, and a trained workforce will be the backbone of this growth,” said Majhi. To address the upcoming demand for skilled professionals, he proposed setting up new CIPET training centers in key industrial regions including Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Kalinganagar, Gopalpur, Angul, and Rayagada.

Both leaders toured CIPET’s advanced laboratories and interacted with students, highlighting the institution’s role in creating a talent pool for India’s fast-growing petrochemical industry. Union Minister Nadda appreciated the state’s proactive approach in aligning skill development with industrial expansion.
