CM Majhi Leads 15th Grievance Hearing Session; 96% Complaints Resolved So Far

Bhubaneswar: Reaffirming his government’s focus on direct citizen engagement, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday chaired the 15th session of the Chief Minister’s Grievance Hearing Programme in Bhubaneswar, where he personally reviewed petitions submitted by residents of Keonjhar district. The day-long exercise, held at the Grievance Cell in Unit-2, once again underscored the administration’s drive to bring governance closer to the people.

Eight senior cabinet ministers were present throughout the session, signalling the high-level commitment attached to the weekly grievance redressal mechanism. Officials reported that the programme has so far received 12,950 grievances, of which 12,371—nearly 96 percent—have already been resolved. The remaining cases are currently being processed, with the Chief Minister continuing to issue on-the-spot instructions to departments depending on urgency.

Before entering the Grievance Cell, the Chief Minister stepped outside to meet 34 differently-abled and chronically ill individuals who had been waiting since early morning. He personally interacted with each petitioner, received their applications, and directed immediate follow-up. Inside, he heard pre-registered cases, including a woman who arrived specifically to express gratitude after her long-pending issue was recently addressed due to his intervention.

Several complainants shared emotional accounts of long-standing distress, receiving patient attention and assurance from the Chief Minister. Speaking to the media later, CM Majhi reiterated that his government aims to ensure that “every citizen has access to essential services, opportunities, and timely support.” He added that district collectors have been instructed to conduct regular grievance hearings locally so that citizens do not need to travel to Bhubaneswar for resolution.

Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and ministers Suresh Pujari, Mukesh Mahaling, Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, Bibhuti Bhushan Jena, Pradeep Bal Samanta, Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia, and Gokulananda Mallik attended the session. Senior officials including Additional Chief Secretaries Satyabrata Sahu, Surendra Kumar, and Deoranjan Kumar Singh; Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Saswat Mishra; and department secretaries supported the proceedings.
