Chilika MLA Prasant Jagdev rams his vehicle into crowd, several injured

Khurda: Over 22 people including seven police personnel were seriously injured when suspended BJD leader and Chilika MLA Prasant Jagdev mowed down a crowd with his vehicle at Banpur in Khurda district in Odisha on Saturday. 

As per reports, the crowd was gathered outside the Block Development Office at Banpur while the election for the block chairperson was underway when the MLA who was on the wheel ran into people.

After the incident angry people attacked the MLA in which he was critically injured and was rushed to near by hospital. 

The injured policemen, including Banpur police station inspector RR Sahu, were seriously injured. 

The MLA was treated at Tangi hospital and later taken to Bhubaneswar, Khurda SP Alekh Chandra Pahi said.

Jagdev was suspended last year for anti-party activities.
