Chief of Naval Staff Adm Dinesh K Tripathi Visits Indonesia to Bolster Maritime Cooperation

Jakarta: Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) of India, began a four-day official visit to Indonesia today, aimed at deepening bilateral defence ties under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The visit, running from December 15 to 18, focuses on enhancing naval cooperation and strengthening maritime security collaboration between the two nations.

Admiral Tripathi is set to hold discussions with prominent Indonesian officials, including Lt Gen Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin (retd), Indonesia’s Defence Minister; General Agus Subiyanto, Commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces; and Admiral Muhammad Ali, Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy. These discussions are expected to address critical areas such as maritime security, joint training initiatives, and strategies to bolster operational collaboration between the navies of India and Indonesia.

The visit aligns with the shared vision of India-Indonesia Maritime Cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region. Both nations recognize the importance of a strong maritime partnership to ensure regional security and stability.

Admiral Tripathi’s visit coincides with the ongoing 43rd India-Indonesia Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT), conducted along the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) from December 10 to 18. The CORPAT highlights the existing robust cooperation between the two navies, which encompasses joint exercises, capacity-building initiatives, and reciprocal port visits.

India and Indonesia’s navies share a history of collaboration through training programs and operational engagements. This visit is expected to provide an opportunity to explore new avenues for cooperation and reaffirm commitments to shared goals in the Indo-Pacific.

Admiral Tripathi’s engagements in Indonesia underscore the strong bonds between the two nations and their navies, paving the way for enhanced cooperation in areas of mutual interest and reinforcing their commitment to maritime security in the region.
