Chief of Defence Staff, General Anil Chauhan, Commends NCC Cadets at Republic Day Camp 2024

Delhi Cantt: General Anil Chauhan, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), paid a visit to the NCC Republic Day Camp 2024 at Delhi Cantt, lauding the exemplary achievements and discipline displayed by the National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets.

Upon his arrival, General Chauhan was warmly received by Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh, the Director-General of NCC. The Chief of Defence Staff proceeded to review a remarkable ‘Guard of Honour’ presented by cadets representing all three wings of NCC – Army, Navy, and Air Force. The event also featured an impressive band display by the talented girl cadets from BITS Pilani.

In his address to the cadets, General Anil Chauhan commended their flawless ‘Guard of Honour,’ outstanding turnout, and precise drill maneuvers. Recognizing the NCC’s journey from its modest beginnings to becoming the world’s largest uniformed youth organization with over 17 lakh cadets, he praised the organization for instilling the values of unity and discipline.

The CDS highlighted NCC’s pivotal role in nurturing qualities such as discipline, leadership, and camaraderie among the youth. He acknowledged the significant contributions of NCC cadets to nation-building through initiatives like ‘International Yoga Day,’ ‘Har Ghar Tiranga,’ ‘Puneet Sagar Abhiyan,’ and various social awareness campaigns.

General Chauhan also applauded the participation of NCC cadets in sports and adventure activities, citing their achievements in competitions like Subroto Cup, Jawahar Lal Nehru Hockey Championship, and the Mavlankar Shooting Championship.

During his interaction with the cadets, General Anil Chauhan advised them to strive for excellence and maintain an optimistic outlook on life, emphasizing the importance of the journey rather than focusing solely on success or failure.

The CDS proceeded to inspect the ‘Flag Area,’ creatively crafted by cadets from all 17 NCC Directorates, showcasing various social awareness themes. The well-prepared displays were presented to General Chauhan, providing insights into the cadets’ innovative ideas and initiatives.

The visit concluded with the Chief of Defence Staff and other distinguished guests enjoying a spectacular ‘Cultural Programme’ presented by the talented NCC cadets in the organization’s auditorium.
