Changla Blasters and Sham Wolves Dominate Opening Day of Royal Enfield Ice Hockey League Season 2

Leh: The Royal Enfield Ice Hockey League (REIHL) Season 2 got off to a thrilling start as Changla Blasters and Sham Wolves showcased their dominance on Day 1 with commanding performances.

In the opening match, Changla Blasters secured a resounding 6-2 victory over United Nubra. Powered by Opadma M’s brace, the Blasters set the tone early with relentless offensive pressure, scoring four goals in the first period while conceding just one. J Motup opened the scoring, followed by Tunatup’s two consecutive goals and Tsewang T’s fourth goal, establishing a commanding 4-1 lead by the end of the first period. United Nubra’s lone goal came from Opadma M, who found the net in the same period but couldn’t shift the momentum in their favor. In the second period, the Blasters maintained their defensive dominance, keeping United Nubra scoreless. The final period saw Dorjey M and Aangchuk W extend the lead for Changla Blasters, while Tamim R managed a late goal for United Nubra, but it was not enough to mount a comeback.

In the second match, Sham Wolves followed up with a 4-1 win against Maryul Spawo. Naway G opened the scoring early for Sham Wolves, and their defense ensured Maryul Spawo couldn’t find the net in the first period. In the second period, Stanzin D and Urgan C added back-to-back goals to extend the lead to 3-0. Maryul Spawo’s Dorjey G managed a late goal in the third period, but Urgan C sealed the game with his second goal, securing a 4-1 victory for Sham Wolves.

The Royal Enfield Ice Hockey League 2025 will continue with an exciting lineup of 30 matches, featuring 23 men’s games and 7 women’s games over the next 10 days. The men’s tournament includes two groups of five teams, with the top two teams advancing to the semi-finals. The women’s tournament will follow a round-robin format in two groups, leading to semi-finals and a final on January 12. The men’s championship final is scheduled for January 13.
