Chairman Asit Tripathy Reviews Developmental Projects in Western Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Asit Tripathy, Chairman of the Western Odisha Development Council (WODC), undertook a comprehensive review of various developmental projects across four districts in Western Odisha—Deogarh, Nuapada, Jharsuguda, and Subarnapur. The WODC, committed to providing national-level facilities to the region, aims to enhance social and economic development by focusing on fundamental infrastructure development from the district to the panchayat level.

In a review meeting held at Kharavel Bhawan today, District Collectors from the four districts actively participated through video conferencing. Among the key proposals discussed was the construction of a 400-seat capacity auditorium in Brajarajnagar, Jharsuguda. Chairman Tripathy emphasized incorporating solar panels on the auditorium’s roof and constructing the entire facility on a zero-emission basis.

In Subarnapur district, two sites in Binka and Dunguripali blocks have been earmarked for the construction of crematoriums. The district administration proposed developing infrastructure similar to Puri Swargadwara, and Chairman Tripathy directed the improvement of sanitation systems and water facilities in the area. A grant of Rs 90 lakh each has been sanctioned for the development of both crematorium sites.

Additionally, attention was given to the enhancement of Tarva Mini Stadium’s ground for local players. A sum of Rs 83 lakh and 91 thousand has been allocated for the construction of a library cum reading room catering to physically disabled students in the district.

Discussions during the review meeting also covered the construction of an e-library in Deogarh district, with Chairman Tripathy directing its development into a district library. In Nuapada, a financial grant was sanctioned for the construction of a town hall in the Sinapali block.

District Collectors from Nuapada, Deogarh, Subarnapur, and Jharsuguda—Hema kanta Say, Somesh Kumar Upadhyay, Bimalendu Ray, and Aboli Sunil Naravane, respectively—along with the Council’s Technical Consultant Sunil Kumar Naik, attended the meeting, focusing on collaborative efforts to drive progress and development in Western Odisha.
