Centre Reviews Key Agriculture Schemes; Odisha Records Over 79% Fund Utilisation

Bhubaneswar: Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday reviewed the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (PM-RKVY) and Krishonnati Yojana, with Agriculture Ministers from all states participating through video conference.

Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha and Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment and Energy Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo joined the review meeting virtually and highlighted Odisha’s strong performance under both flagship schemes. He informed the Union Minister that the state has already utilised 79 per cent of funds under PM-RKVY and 80 per cent under Krishonnati Yojana, significantly boosting agricultural growth and productivity.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that with the timely release of the remaining central funds, six new agriculture projects could be taken up in the state, further strengthening farm-sector development and farmer livelihoods.

Expressing satisfaction over Odisha’s progress, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan lauded the effective utilisation of funds and the focused investments made in the agriculture sector. He urged the state to sustain this momentum and continue adopting innovative and farmer-centric approaches.

PM-RKVY aims to promote sustainable and resilient agriculture, while the Krishonnati Yojana focuses on enhancing food security and achieving self-sufficiency. Odisha’s initiatives under these schemes include natural farming practices, crop diversification, and large-scale promotion of millets, positioning the state as a model for agricultural development.

The review meeting was attended by Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Department; Shubham Saxena, Director of Agriculture; and Dr. Ganeshwar Jena, Additional Secretary, among other senior officials.
