Ruud secured his spot in the final after a hard-fought battle against Tomas Etcheverry. Despite facing a tough challenge, Ruud managed to maintain his composure after trailing 4-2 in the opening set. He displayed resilience by saving two set points at 6-5 down, ultimately forcing a tiebreak. With determination and skill, Ruud clinched the tiebreak and sealed victory with a 7-6 (6), 6-4 win over Etcheverry. Remarkably, Ruud has yet to drop a set in the tournament, showcasing his formidable form on the court.
Meanwhile, Tsitsipas faced his own test in the semifinal clash against Dusan Lajovic. After dropping the opening set 7-5 to the unseeded Serbian, Tsitsipas staged a remarkable comeback. The Greek star rallied to claim the second set 6-4, demonstrating his resilience and fighting spirit. With his serve firing on all cylinders and Lajovic showing signs of fatigue, Tsitsipas seized control in the decisive third set, ultimately triumphing with a 6-2 victory.
