Bridging Generations Through Words: Students Enthusiasm Shines at the First World Odia Language Conference

Bhubaneswar: The Second day of the first World Odia Language Conference at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar witnessed engaging initiatives by the School and Public Education Department to illuminate the evolution of the Odia language in Odisha. The department’s endeavours include innovative projects, with one particularly captivating the hearts of students – the Postcard Exchange.

The Postcard Exchange initiative has become a hit among school children, offering a visual journey through Odisha’s specialties. Featuring images of iconic cultural elements like Rathayatra, Raja, Jhotikala, Podapitha, Doli Khel, Odissi, and Sambaluri, the postcards serve as delightful souvenirs. Students attending the exhibition choose their favorite postcards, inscribe beautiful memories, and send them to their loved ones.

Adding to the vibrant atmosphere, students actively took the stage as speakers during the World Odia Language Conference’s second day. In the session on ‘Archaeology of Odisha,’ Om Sri Ranbir Singh, a science student from class 11 at Baksi Jagbandhu Secondary School in Bhubaneswar, and Pravati Das, an arts student, delivered insightful speeches. The second session on ‘Odia Language and Women’s Empowerment’ featured Chowdhury Ankita Das, a ninth-grade student from Orissa Model School in Balianta Bentpur, as a dynamic speaker.

Supervised by 12 guide teachers, the conference saw the active participation of 400 students, who explored the World Odia Language Conference and engaged in various programs.
