Boxer Lovlina Borgohain wins bronze medal at Tokyo Olympics

Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain wins bronze medal at Tokyo Olympics after going down in her semi-final bout against reigning world champion Busenaz Surmeneli of Turkey. The boxer from Assam was outplayed by her opponent comprehensively by 0-5 in the 69-kg women’s welterweight category. With this, she became India’s second woman boxer to win an Olympic medal after Mary Kom in 2012 London Games.

With this bronze, India’s medal tally reached 3 in the Tokyo Olympics. India is positioned at 62 in the medal tally.
