
Guwahati: Tokyo Olympics medalist and ace boxer Lovlina Borgohain has been appointed as the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Assam Police.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma formally handed over the appointment letter to the boxer in an event held at Janata Bhawan today.
Congratulating the boxer for her new role, the Assam CM wrote on a tweet, “From the backwaters of Assam to Olympic glory, journey of Smt. @LovlinaBorgohai is inspiring. I’m elated to give her the appointment letter for the post of DySP. I congratulate her and hope that she will inspire the youth with her achievements in sports & official work.”
Lovlina won the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 in women’s welterweight category.
