Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has rolled out comprehensive guidelines for this year’s Durga Puja celebrations, emphasizing a plastic-free and eco-friendly approach in the city.
In line with these guidelines, the use of plastic materials within puja pandals has been strictly prohibited. To promote environmentally conscious practices, numerous dustbins will be strategically placed around the puja venues, encouraging devotees and visitors to dispose of waste responsibly.
To ensure cleanliness during the festivities, BMC has arranged for garbage collection vehicles to operate twice daily, helping to maintain order and hygiene throughout the celebrations.
Additionally, the corporation has constructed five temporary water bodies to facilitate the eco-friendly immersion of idols, ensuring minimal impact on natural water sources.
BMC Mayor Sulochana Das underscored the importance of these green measures, reaffirming the city’s commitment to safeguarding the environment during the festivities. She urged citizens and organizers to follow the guidelines diligently, making this year’s Durga Puja both a joyful and sustainable event.
