Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana to Continue till the Rollout of New Scheme in Phases

Bhubaneswar: Addressing concerns about the future of the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY), Odisha’s Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling confirmed on Saturday that the flagship health scheme, initiated by the previous BJD government, will continue to operate.

Under BSKY, beneficiaries will continue to receive cashless medical services at both government and private hospitals. Currently, the scheme benefits 96.50 lakh families, including those below and above the poverty line.

Minister Mahaling also announced that the new Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY) will be rolled out in phases. “The BSKY is operational. Concurrently, beneficiaries will be issued the Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana card. Our interim budget for two months was approved on July 30. Following this, our Appropriation Bill is slated for passage on September 10. After this, implementation of the Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana will commence in a phased manner,” he said.
