Bhubaneswar: The city is all set to host one of the most anticipated football tournaments in the country, the Super Cup 2025, which will commence on April 21. The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has confirmed that Bhubaneswar will be the venue for this high-stakes competition, which promises thrilling action from some of the top football clubs in India.
The Super Cup 2025 will feature 16 teams, with 13 clubs from the Indian Super League (ISL) and three from the I-League. The tournament is set to be a knockout battle, with the champions earning a prestigious spot in the 2025-26 AFC Champions League 2 (ACL2) playoffs, marking a significant milestone for Indian football.
The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) expressed excitement over the upcoming event, stating on Twitter (X), “Bhubaneswar will host the prestigious Super Cup 2025 from April 21, featuring 16 top clubs in a thrilling knockout battle. The champions will earn a spot in the 2025-26 AFC Champions League 2 Playoffs, taking Indian football to global stage.”
Bhubaneswar has established itself as a key destination for the Super Cup, with three out of the last four editions being held in the city. The trophy was officially renamed the Kalinga Super Cup in 2024 to honor Odisha’s cultural and sporting heritage.
