Bhubaneswar to Host ‘Biswa Odia Bhasa Sammilani’ to promote Odia Language

Bhubaneswar: In a momentous decision aimed at nurturing and promoting the linguistic treasure of Odia, the Odisha Cabinet has approved to organise ‘Biswa Odia Bhasa Sammilani.’ This groundbreaking three-day conference, scheduled for February 2024 in Bhubaneswar, signifies a crucial stride in the endeavour to propagate and safeguard the essence of the Odia language globally.

The announcement unfolded during a strategic cabinet heritage meeting where the spotlight was on the imperative need to champion linguistic diversity and heritage. The ‘Biswa Odia Bhasa Sammilani’ emerges as a distinctive platform not only to celebrate the linguistic opulence of Odia but also to proactively ensure its broader acknowledgment and effective preservation.

This unique event is poised to unfold at multiple tiers—State, national, and international. Renowned linguists and language experts, both national and international, will be invited to contribute their expertise through theme-based presentations, offering an extensive exploration of the linguistic landscape.

Active student participation from across the state is expected, reflecting a deliberate move to involve the younger generation in championing the cause of Odia language promotion and preservation. The conference aims to foster a dynamic environment where scholars, linguists, and language aficionados can exchange ideas, insights, and strategies for robust language conservation.
