Bhubaneswar: The enchanting melodies of the ‘Sound of Spring’ filled the air at the fifth evening of Sangitara Murchana, a musical extravaganza hosted by the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) as part of the Ekamra Utsav. The event, graced by the presence of Information and Public Relations Minister Pradeep Amat and MLA Subash Chandra Behera, unfolded into a night of musical delight for the esteemed guests.

The spotlight of the evening shone on the accomplished vocalist, Sona Mohapatra, whose captivating performance left the audience spellbound. Infusing the air with vibrant hues, Sona’s renditions, particularly her unique take on “Rangabati,” resonated with the audience, who swayed to the rhythm of her soulful voice. Her repertoire included timeless classics like “Piya Tu Aaja,” “Rangabati,” and “Dil Duba,” creating a musical ambiance that lingered long after the performance concluded.

The evening commenced with Kuldeep Patnaik’s soulful rendition of the Ahe Neela Saila, a musical homage to Jagannath, along with melodious numbers like “Rajhansi” and “Shun Maina.”

Following suit, vocalist Mohanraj Mohanty took the stage, mesmerizing the audience with renditions of “Piya Piya” and a medley featuring “Teri Deewani,” “Ramta Yogi,” “Adhuri Zindagi,” and the title track of the World Odia Language Conference. The evening reached new heights of musical enchantment when vocalist Krishna Beura joined Mohanraj Mohanty on stage, adding another layer of brilliance to the performance.

Expressing her gratitude, Sona Mohapatra reflected on the opportunity to perform in Bhubaneswar after six years. She lauded the city’s development and took pride in her Odisha roots, emphasizing the importance of cooperation to elevate the state’s cultural heritage. The ‘Sound of Spring’ echoed not just in the melodies but in the shared joy of celebrating musical artistry and cultural richness in the heart of Bhubaneswar.
