Bhubaneswar: In a major step toward transforming Bhubaneswar Railway Station into a world-class travel hub under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the East Coast Railway has successfully implemented several key infrastructural changes aimed at enhancing passenger convenience and service delivery.
As construction continues at the existing temporary shed, authorities have shifted the Passenger Reservation System (PRS) and Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) counters to the newly constructed station building on a temporary basis. This move ensures the continued availability of ticketing services while allowing uninterrupted progress of the redevelopment work.
In addition, a newly constructed approach road from the Town Bus Stand/Temple side has been opened to the public, enabling smoother connectivity and improving access to the station, especially for commuters coming from major city landmarks.
A significant highlight of the ongoing revamp is the launch of a Ground Level Departure Concourse, which now provides direct access to Platform No. 1. This strategic development is expected to greatly ease passenger movement and reduce crowding during peak travel hours.
The relocated ticket counters and enquiry sections within the ongoing station building offer enhanced space, better lighting, and improved ventilation, contributing to a more comfortable and efficient experience for travelers.
The redevelopment of Bhubaneswar Railway Station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme continues to progress steadily, with authorities focusing on passenger-centric upgrades that blend modern design with improved operational functionality.
