BDA Clears Encroachments From Government Land in Kalarahanga

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Development Authority on Monday conducted a major anti-encroachment drive at Kalarahanga mouza and freed a significant portion of government land from illegal occupation under its ongoing CEMC eviction programme.

The operation was carried out on government land under Plot No. 1683 under the supervision of Joint Commissioner (Enforcement) Ranjan Kumar and field supervision of General Administration Department Deputy Director Amiya Kumar Das.

Officials said the eviction drive faced strong resistance and protests from encroachers during the operation. However, enforcement teams successfully carried out partial eviction and cleared around Ac 0.300 decimal of encroached government land.

Several illegally constructed structures were demolished during the operation, including three under-construction houses, six ACC sheet houses, a chicken shop, a cabin, a kabadi store, four toilets and a water tank.

Authorities also removed nearly 150 feet of iron fencing that had allegedly been erected over the encroached land.

The eviction drive involved coordinated action by multiple enforcement and administrative units, including BDA Enforcement Squads 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8, along with the Junior Enforcement Officer, Revenue Inspector of the General Administration Department, personnel from Infocity Police Station and police forces deployed to maintain law and order.

Officials informed that the anti-encroachment operation would continue on Tuesday as part of the scheduled eviction programme.

BDA Vice-Chairman Chanchal Rana said the authority would continue similar drives in different parts of Bhubaneswar to protect government land from illegal occupation and facilitate development works.

He also appealed to encroachers to voluntarily vacate government land to avoid enforcement action in the future.
