BCCI Pledges Rs 8.5 Crore to Support Indian Athletes at Paris Olympics 2024

New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a significant financial contribution to the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), pledging Rs 8.5 crore to support Indian athletes competing in the Paris Olympics 2024.

BCCI President Jay Shah revealed the decision, emphasizing the cricket board’s commitment to backing Indian athletes aiming for success at the upcoming summer Olympic Games in Paris. Shah extended his best wishes to the athletes in a post on social media platform ‘X’:

“I am proud to announce that the BCCI will be supporting our incredible athletes representing #India at the 2024 Paris Olympics. We are providing INR 8.5 Crores to the IOA for the campaign. To our entire contingent, we wish you the very best. Make India proud! Jai Hind!”

India will be sending a contingent of 117 athletes to Paris, including 47 female and 70 male competitors. The largest group within the team consists of track and field athletes, totaling 29, followed by 21 shooters. Notably, Mirabai Chanu, who won a silver medal in weightlifting at the 2021 Tokyo Games, will be India’s sole representative in the sport. Additionally, India will have one athlete each for Equestrian, Judo, and Rowing.

Supporting the athletes, the Indian contingent will include 67 coaches and 72 other support staff, ensuring comprehensive assistance throughout the event.
