
The Board of Control for Cricket in India on Thursday announced equal pay for men and women cricket teams of the country.
As per the announcement India’s women cricketers will be paid the same international match fee as their male counterparts.
BCCI secretary Jay Shah took to Twitter and announced this. He wrote
“I’m pleased to announce @BCCI’s first step towards tackling discrimination. We are implementing pay equity policy for our contracted @BCCIWomen cricketers. The match fee for both Men and Women Cricketers will be same as we move into a new era of gender equality in 🇮🇳 Cricket.”
Now, the Indian women’s team will earn match fees of ₹15 lakh per Test, ₹6 lakh per ODI and ₹3 lakh per T20I, which is same as the men’s team.
