Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission Achieves Significant Milestone

New Delhi: The Government of India has successfully launched the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) with the ambitious vision of creating a national digital health ecosystem. The primary objective of this mission is to develop a platform that facilitates the interoperability of health data within the health ecosystem, ultimately leading to the creation of a comprehensive longitudinal Electronic Health Record (EHR) for every citizen.

Key features of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission include the establishment of an Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA), formerly known as Health IDs. ABHA serves as a Unique Health Identifier in the form of a random 14-digit number, issued digitally or as a hardcopy. The creation of the ABHA number is voluntary, ensuring citizen participation in the mission.

As of January 24, 2024, the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission has achieved significant milestones, with a total of 52,50,15,110 ABHA Numbers created nationwide. Specifically, 2,59,73,337 ABHA Numbers have been generated for the state of Odisha.

The Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Prof. S P Singh Baghel, shared this noteworthy progress in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha. The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission plays a crucial role in advancing India’s healthcare infrastructure and ensuring seamless access to health records for citizens across the country.
