Melbourne: Defending champion Aryna Sabalenka advanced to the Australian Open final after overcoming a formidable challenge from American Coco Gauff in a tense semi-final clash. Sabalenka, the Belarusian second seed, secured a 7-6 (7-2), 6-4 victory against the fourth-seeded Gauff, avenging her loss to the American in last year’s US Open final.
The semi-final encounter was characterized by an error-strewn first set, with both players displaying moments of edginess.
