Arjun Ram Meghwal Assumes Charge as Minister of Law and Justice

New Delhi: Arjun Ram Meghwal, the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), took charge of the Ministry of Law and Justice today in New Delhi. Addressing the office bearers and staff, Meghwal expressed his commitment to serving the people with dedication and integrity, guided by the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasized that the Ministry of Law and Justice would play a pivotal role in realizing the dream of a developed India.

Meghwal highlighted the priority of generating awareness among the public about the three new criminal laws set to be implemented soon. He stressed the importance of ensuring speedy justice for all in the courts.

Born on December 20, 1953, Arjun Ram Meghwal holds a Post-Graduate degree in Political Science, a Law degree, and an MBA from the University of the Philippines. He is a retired IAS Officer from Rajasthan and has been representing the Bikaner constituency in the Lok Sabha since 2009. Prior to assuming his current charge, Meghwal has served in various ministerial capacities, including as Union Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs (2016-2017), Union Minister of State for Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation and Parliamentary Affairs (2017-19), Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises and Parliamentary Affairs (2019-21), Union Minister of State for Culture & Parliamentary Affairs (2021-2023), and Union Minister of State (I/C) for Law and Justice and MoS for Culture and Parliamentary Affairs (2023-24).

Meghwal is renowned for his unique mode of commuting to Parliament – riding a bicycle. He has been awarded the Sansad Ratna thrice and the Sansad Maharatna award for his commendable contributions.
