Arjun Munda Virtually Lays Foundation Stone for Tribal Culture & Heritage Centre in Jharkhand

Bhubaneswar: Union Minister for Tribal Affairs; Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Arjun Munda, virtually inaugurated the foundation stone laying ceremony of the ‘Centre for Preservation and Promotion of Tribal Culture & Heritage’ at Padampur, Kharsawan district, Jharkhand. This museum aims to celebrate and safeguard the rich legacy of the tribal community in Jharkhand, offering a glimpse into their vibrant way of life and cultural traditions.

In his address to the audience via video conference, Munda emphasized the government’s commitment to development while preserving the country’s rich cultural heritage. Munda stressed the importance of empowering tribal communities for a self-reliant India, aligning with the Prime Minister’s vision.

The Union Ministry for Tribal Affairs has allocated a budget of Rs. 10 crores for the establishment of the Centre in Kharsawan district. This initiative will not only showcase the physical and intangible tribal culture and history but also serve as a knowledge hub to support tribal communities in their development endeavors. Additionally, plans are underway to transform the centre into a dynamic space where artisans can demonstrate their skills, fostering tourism and economic growth.

In another significant development, Munda inaugurated the National Unique Tribal Museum, e-Library, and ST Girls’ hostel at Bharatiya Adim Jati Sevak Sanghathan (BAJSS) in New Delhi. BAJSS, founded by Amritlal Vithaldas Thakkar, is dedicated to the upliftment of tribal people. The museum and library house a remarkable collection of tribal artifacts and rare books, symbolizing India’s rich tribal heritage.

He highlighted the Ministry’s efforts to revive and digitize the BAJSS museum and library, ensuring the preservation of rare cultural treasures for future generations. The Minister also announced the installation of interactive digital kiosks in the museum to enhance visitor experience.
