Animesh Kujur Equals National Games Record in 100m Sprint

Bhubaneswar: The National Games 2025 athletics events began on a thrilling note, with Odisha’s Animesh Kujur delivering a standout performance in the men’s 100m final. Kujur sprinted to victory in 10.28 seconds, matching the Games record set by Amlan Borgohain in 2022 and securing the gold medal for his state.

The race saw intense competition, with Maharashtra’s Pranav Gurav closely trailing Kujur, finishing in 10.32 seconds to take silver. Borgohain, who previously held the record, settled for bronze with a time of 10.43 seconds.

Adding to the record-breaking performances, Himachal Pradesh’s Sawan Barwal dominated the men’s 10,000m final, crossing the finish line in 28:49.93. His spectacular run broke the previous Games record of 28:54.29, set by Gulveer Singh in 2022.
