New Delhi: At the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Pham Minh Chinh, has embarked on a significant State Visit to India from 30 July to 01 August 2024. Accompanied by a high-level delegation, including several Ministers, Deputy Ministers, and business leaders, this visit marks a milestone in the robust relationship between the two nations.
The visit will commence with a ceremonial welcome for Prime Minister Chinh at the Forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan on 01 August. Following this, he will pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat, a gesture symbolizing respect and solidarity with India’s spiritual heritage. The day’s agenda includes bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will also host a luncheon in honor of the visiting dignitary.
Prime Minister Chinh’s itinerary further includes meetings with the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, and the Vice President, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar. External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar is also expected to engage in discussions with the Vietnamese Prime Minister, underscoring the multifaceted nature of the bilateral relations.
India and Vietnam share deep-rooted historical and civilizational ties, which have been further solidified through the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Vietnam in September 2016. Vietnam is considered a crucial pillar of India’s Act East Policy and an essential partner in its Indo-Pacific vision. The two countries have collaborated closely on issues of regional security, economic cooperation, and cultural exchange, reflecting a shared commitment to peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.
This visit by Prime Minister Chinh is expected to strengthen the already vibrant ties between India and Vietnam, exploring new avenues for cooperation in areas such as trade, defense, technology, and cultural exchange. As both nations continue to navigate the complexities of regional dynamics, this visit serves as a testament to their enduring partnership and mutual respect.
