New Delhi: Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, alongside Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Dr. L. Murugan, and Secretary of I&B, Sanjay Jaju, unveiled four significant books today in a ceremony that celebrated the rich heritage and intellectual depth associated with Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Speaking at the event, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan described the books as a tribute to the enduring legacy of Rashtrapati Bhavan, a symbol of India’s sovereignty and democratic ethos. He emphasized the importance of the compilation of President Droupadi Murmu’s speeches, underscoring them as a treasury of wisdom that reflects her compassion for all sections of society, including women, scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, other marginalized groups, farmers, armed forces, and youth.
“These books are not just publications; they are a narrative of our democracy, inspiring every Indian to aspire for greater heights,” said Chouhan. He expressed confidence that the speeches would provide valuable insights into the socio-economic challenges of the nation and highlight initiatives fostering self-reliance.
Dr. L. Murugan praised the Publications Division for consistently producing books of public interest and highlighted the significance of the books released today. He underscored that these compilations of the President’s thoughts on various issues would serve as a guiding light for future generations.
Following the unveiling, copies of the books were presented to the President as a mark of respect and appreciation.
About the Books:
1. Wings to Our Hopes – Volume 1 (English and Hindi): This book comprises 75 speeches delivered by President Droupadi Murmu during her first year in office (July 2022 – July 2023). It covers a wide range of topics, including national development, education, public service ethics, defense, constitutional spirit, innovation, cultural diversity, and women-led development. President Murmu’s speeches emphasize hope and empowerment, making them a valuable resource for understanding her vision for India.
2. Rashtrapati Bhavan: Heritage Meets the Present: This book offers an extensive exploration of Rashtrapati Bhavan’s history, architecture, and contemporary significance. It provides readers with an intimate tour of the Bhavan’s iconic rooms, such as the Ashoka Hall, Durbar Hall, Amrit Udyan, Library, Drawing Rooms, Conference Halls, and the President’s Study. The book also chronicles the contributions of each President of India and significant events during their tenures, celebrating the Bhavan’s role in India’s democracy.
3. Kahani Rashtrapati Bhavan Ki: This book is designed for children and presents the history and attractions of Rashtrapati Bhavan in a simple and engaging manner. Divided into three chapters – ‘Our President’, ‘Main Attractions of Rashtrapati Bhavan’, and ‘Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum Complex’ – it features numerous pictures and stories that bring the Bhavan’s nearly hundred-year history to life.
