New Delhi: The Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, Rajiv Ranjan Singh, chaired a comprehensive briefing meeting at Krishi Bhawan today. The meeting marked his first official engagement after assuming charge of the Ministry on June 11. Prof. S.P. Singh Baghel, Minister of State, and George Kurian, Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, were also present.
During the session, Alka Upadhyaya, Secretary of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (AHD), provided an in-depth overview of the livestock sector in India. She highlighted the department’s various activities and initiatives aimed at bolstering the sector.
The divisional heads of the department presented detailed briefings on ongoing schemes and programs, updating the Ministers on the progress and current status of these initiatives. The discussions covered a range of topics crucial to the development and sustainability of the fisheries, animal husbandry, and dairying sectors.
Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh expressed his commitment to advancing the sector and emphasized the importance of these initiatives in contributing to the overall agricultural economy. He acknowledged the efforts of the department and reiterated the government’s support for enhancing productivity, sustainability, and welfare in the livestock sector.
