New Delhi: Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and Textiles, Shri Piyush Goyal, engaged in an interactive session with beneficiaries of the Product-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi on Saturday. The minister welcomed constructive criticism from various industrial sectors, aiming to enhance facilitation and promote manufacturing growth in the country.
During the opening interaction, Shri Goyal urged for a collaborative approach between the Government and the sector, emphasizing the importance of constructive criticism and consultation. He encouraged cooperation from the beneficiaries present at the meeting, highlighting that the government faces its own constraints and undergoes Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) audits, ensuring transparency in paperwork and preventing irregularities.
Shri Goyal stressed the need for maintaining collaboration not only between the Government and the beneficiaries but also among the beneficiaries themselves. He underlined the mutual support required for the collective benefit of the country, envisioning India’s transformation into a manufacturing powerhouse.
Clarifying the purpose of the PLI scheme, the minister emphasized that its intention is not to make beneficiaries dependent on government services but to serve as a catalyst for boosting the manufacturing sector. Shri Goyal underscored the importance of competition, urging businesses to adopt an outward-looking approach to scale their operations globally rather than solely catering to the domestic market.
Highlighting the significance of becoming global players, the minister encouraged businesses to focus on scaling their volume, which would contribute to cost-effectiveness and ultimately lead to success. Shri Goyal expressed his belief in the potential of every PLI beneficiary present at the meeting, considering them as potential success stories in India’s journey towards manufacturing excellence.
