Jabalpur: In a significant move to enhance the development and connectivity of Jabalpur, Union Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for nine National Highway projects with a cumulative cost of Rs 2,367 crore and a total length of 225 km. The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Mohan Yadav, Union Minister Shri Virendra Kumar, Union Minister of State Shri Faggan Singh Kulaste, Madhya Pradesh BJP State President Shri V.D. Sharma, State Minister Shri Prahlad Singh Patel, State Minister Shri Rakesh Singh, along with other dignitaries, MPs, MLAs, and officials.
Among the key projects inaugurated today, a noteworthy 1.5 km bridge over the Jamni river on the Tikamgarh-Jhansi road was unveiled, designed to facilitate easier access to Orchha, a prominent tourist destination known for Rajaram’s temple. Additionally, the construction of a 2-lane paved shoulder road from Chandia Ghat to Katni Bypass is expected to bring about a significant improvement in connectivity to the coal mines of Katni, benefiting the coal mining industry in the region. The widening of the Bamitha-Khajuraho road is poised to enhance tourism in Khajuraho, contributing to the overall socio-economic development of the area.
The foundation stone for various projects was also laid during the ceremony, encompassing the upgradation of the road from Gulganj Bypass to Barna River, 2-lane road upgradation from Barna River to Ken River, upgradation with 2-lane paved shoulder from Shahdol to Sagartola, and the construction of 23 VUPs (Vehicular Underpasses), bridges, and service roads in the Lakhnadon section. Furthermore, the construction of three foot overbridges at Suktra, Kurai, and Khawasa, along with the improvement of two black spots at Ghunai and Banjari Valley, forms a crucial part of the comprehensive development plan.
These projects are anticipated to enhance connectivity, save time and fuel, and spur economic, social, and tourism development in the region. The strategic initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to infrastructure development and the overall progress of Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.
