Union Minister Kiren Rijiju Launches Jiyo Parsi Scheme Portal to Support Parsi Community

New Delhi: In a significant move aimed at supporting the Parsi community, Union Minister of Minority Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, today launched the Jiyo Parsi Scheme Portal. The event, held in New Delhi, was attended by several dignitaries, including Minister of State for Minority Affairs George Kurian, Chairman of the National Commission for Minorities (NCM) Iqbal Singh Lalpura, and Vice-Chairperson of the NCM Kersi Kaikhushroo Deboo.

During the launch, Rijiju highlighted the rich cultural heritage of the Parsi community and acknowledged the pressing concern over the community’s declining population. He expressed optimism that the government’s targeted intervention through the Jiyo Parsi scheme would yield positive results, helping to reverse the population trend. The Minister urged eligible Parsi couples to take full advantage of the scheme, emphasizing its role in strengthening the community and contributing to the nation’s growth.

The newly launched web portal for the Jiyo Parsi scheme is designed to make it easier for Parsi couples to access the scheme’s benefits. The portal enables users to apply online, track the status of their applications, and receive financial assistance directly through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode.

The Jiyo Parsi scheme is a unique Central Sector Scheme implemented by the Ministry of Minority Affairs. Its primary objective is to reverse the declining population trend of the Parsi community through scientific protocols and structured interventions aimed at stabilizing the community’s population. The scheme offers financial assistance to Parsi couples for medical treatments under standard medical protocols and provides support for childcare and assistance to dependent elderly members.

Since its inception, the Jiyo Parsi scheme has supported the birth of more than 400 Parsi children, making a significant impact on the community. The launch of the portal is expected to further enhance the accessibility and effectiveness of the scheme, encouraging more Parsi couples to benefit from the government’s initiative.
