Bhubaneswar: The transformative journey of India’s scientific and technological landscape over the past decade was celebrated today as Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology (S&T), Dr. Jitendra Singh, unveiled the groundbreaking report titled “A Decade of Science – Technology Panorama for Aatmanirbhar Bharat.” The esteemed event took place at Vigyan Bhavan and marked a significant milestone in India’s quest for self-reliance and technological prowess.
The report, meticulously crafted by the Office of Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India (OPSA) under the stewardship of Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood, in collaboration with the Foundation of Advancing Science and Technology (FAST) India, offers a panoramic view of India’s technological achievements across 22 Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.
Joined by esteemed dignitaries including Secretary (Earth Sciences) Dr. M. Ravichandran and Secretary (Biotechnology) Dr. Rajesh Gokhale, Dr. Jitendra Singh underscored the pivotal role of science, technology, and innovation as drivers of progress and prosperity. He lauded the monumental contributions of pioneering Indian scientists such as Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, Prof. C V Raman, Dr. Homi Bhabha, and Dr. S.S. Bhatnagar in laying the foundation for India’s journey towards becoming a global leader in science and technology.
In his address, Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood highlighted the comprehensive scope of the report, which encapsulates key missions and initiatives aimed at systematic capability building, frontier research, and citizen-centric scientific interventions. Shri Varun Aggarwal, Co-founder of FAST, emphasized the transformative impact of Indian science and technology on social and economic development, envisioning a future where India emerges as a frontrunner in the global S&T landscape.
Dr. Jitendra Singh commended the success and impact of flagship national missions such as Mission Covid Suraksha and AROMA mission, emphasizing the importance of robust government-industry partnerships. He reiterated the government’s commitment to enhancing the lives of farmers, rural communities, and marginalized groups through innovative technology interventions.
Scientific Secretary Dr. Parvinder Maini expressed gratitude to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for his visionary leadership and unwavering support for scientific endeavors.
