New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Earth Sciences, PMO, Atomic Energy, Space, and Personnel, Dr. Jitendra Singh, launched the “Amrit Gyaan Kosh” portal today, marking a significant step towards strengthening governance training in India. The launch took place alongside the inauguration of the “Advanced Case Writing and Teaching Workshop,” an initiative designed to enhance capacity building for public administrators.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted the crucial role of case studies in bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical governance. He praised faculty members from various training institutes for their dedication and expressed confidence in the transformative impact of the workshop. “This workshop will empower educators with advanced skills in case writing and teaching methodologies, strengthening the foundation of public administration in India,” he remarked.
The “Amrit Gyaan Kosh” portal, developed as part of the iGOT platform, is a comprehensive repository that curates best practices in governance. Launched in August 2024 by the Capacity Building Commission and Karmayogi Bharat, the portal aligns with 15 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), covering diverse themes such as health, education, agriculture, and digital governance. Dr. Jitendra Singh emphasized that the repository, available in Hindi and Braille, represents Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of an inclusive and accessible governance system. He urged participants to contribute new case studies to further enrich the portal.
The “Advanced Case Writing and Teaching Workshop,” organized in partnership with the Stanford Leadership Academy for Development and the Asian Development Bank Institute, is aimed at improving case-based governance training. During the two-week program, participants will learn to develop structured case studies and enhance their teaching methods. By the end of the workshop, the educators will have produced publishable case studies addressing real-world administrative challenges.
Dr. Singh also commended the rigorous selection process that identified 60 faculty members from over 300 nominations. He noted that this initiative is part of a larger effort to promote self-reliance in governance training and align India’s public administration standards with global best practices.
The Minister highlighted that the Amrit Gyaan Kosh portal is not just a repository of knowledge but a platform designed to promote continuous improvement in governance education. The resource aims to assist faculty in aligning their teaching with international standards while addressing India’s unique governance challenges. Dr. Singh expressed his confidence that the workshop’s outputs would significantly enhance the quality of public administration training across the country.
In his concluding remarks, Dr. Singh appreciated the Capacity Building Commission’s efforts in organizing the workshop and reiterated the importance of such initiatives in the context of India’s path to a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047. He emphasized that the development of advanced case studies and teaching methods would play a pivotal role in strengthening the public administration system and improving governance standards.
The Advanced Case Writing and Teaching Workshop, part of the government’s broader capacity-building mission, aims to foster excellence in governance and public administration. Through this initiative, the Capacity Building Commission strives to empower educators and improve the quality of governance training across India, contributing to the nation’s long-term development goals.
