New Delhi: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, Earth Sciences, and several other key portfolios, Dr. Jitendra Singh, today conferred the prestigious “Hospital Administration Excellence Awards” on distinguished hospital administrators. Speaking at the event, Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted their critical role in integrating medical care and underscored the pivotal role of science and technology in transforming healthcare systems.
At the third edition of the Hospital Administration Excellence Awards, Dr. Jitendra Singh lauded the contributions of healthcare administrators, describing them as the backbone of efficient healthcare delivery. He emphasized how advancements in science and technology have reshaped healthcare practices, enabling administrators to meet the evolving demands of healthcare needs. “Science and technology form the backbone of modern healthcare delivery,” he stated, further elaborating on the seamless integration of technology with patient-centric care.
Dr. Singh noted that the earlier divisions between public and private healthcare sectors are dissolving, paving the way for a synergized healthcare ecosystem. This shift is ensuring better healthcare outcomes for citizens across the country. He highlighted key initiatives by the Ministry of Science and Technology, including the development of indigenous COVID-19 vaccines and genome sequencing efforts during the pandemic, which have significantly strengthened India’s healthcare infrastructure.
The Union Minister also discussed advancements driven by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), such as AI-powered diagnostics, wearable health devices, and telemedicine platforms, which are bridging the gap between urban and rural healthcare systems. These innovations have been instrumental in providing equitable access to medical services for all.
Furthermore, Dr. Jitendra Singh reflected on the contributions of the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) in facilitating affordable diagnostic kits and supporting biopharmaceutical innovations, which have enhanced accessibility to healthcare services across India.
In his address, Dr. Singh also highlighted the Department of Earth Sciences’ role in environmental health monitoring and its impact on public health outcomes. The event served as a precursor to the 10th edition of the Safe and Sustainable Hospitals (SASH) conference scheduled for 2024, emphasizing sustainability in healthcare.
