Navi Mumbai: Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, urged the youth of India to take on the role of cultural ambassadors, safeguarding and promoting the country’s rich traditions and values. Speaking at the “Viksit Bharat Ambassador Yuva Connect” programme held at DY Patil Deemed To Be University in Navi Mumbai, Shekhawat highlighted the immense global interest in Indian culture and called on young Indians to lead the way in showcasing the nation’s heritage to the world.
In his address, the Minister emphasized the critical role of youth in shaping a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India). He expressed confidence that future generations will acknowledge today’s youth for their contributions to nation-building, urging them to fulfill the aspirations of India’s freedom fighters. “Now is the time to contribute towards building the nation, with a goal of achieving a developed India by 2047, a true homage to our freedom fighters,” he stated.
Shekhawat reflected on the transformative policies undertaken by the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the past decade. He highlighted key initiatives like financial inclusion through the world’s largest public distribution system, skilling programs, the “One Nation One Market” agricultural policy, and the emphasis on digital payments. He noted how these programs have brought significant improvements in the lives of millions of citizens, driving India’s journey to becoming the world’s third-largest economy.
Speaking on the importance of self-reliance, the Minister underscored the government’s push for “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” (self-sufficient India), pointing to India’s growing influence in defense manufacturing with products like the Tejas aircraft, now in demand globally. He attributed the nation’s success to a combination of rapid development, zero tolerance for corruption, and the enduring strength of traditional values.
The event saw active participation from student achievers, with Shekhawat engaging in an interactive session. The dignitaries present included Dr. Vijay D. Patil, Chancellor of DY Patil Deemed To Be University, Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Shivani V. Patil, Vice Chancellor Vandana Mishra, and NYKS Director for Maharashtra and Goa, Prakash Kumar Manure.
