New Delhi: In a significant move to enhance the skills and professional development of its workforce, the Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. L. Murugan, has directed the establishment of an iGOT Lab within the Ministry. This initiative aims to facilitate online learning for all employees, following a thorough review of the Ministry’s annual Capacity Building Calendar and the onboarding status of staff onto the iGOT portal.
During a review meeting with Secretary of I&B, Sanjay Jaju, and other senior officials, Dr. Murugan emphasized the need for all Ministry employees to be onboarded onto the iGOT portal by October 19. The iGOT (Integrated Government Online Training) platform is designed to provide employees with access to a wide range of learning resources, promoting continuous skill enhancement and knowledge sharing.
To support this initiative, the Ministry has curated a selection of 16 essential courses, including Budget Management, Gender Sensitization, Leadership, and Team Building. These courses are intended to equip employees with critical skills that will enhance their performance and contribute to the Ministry’s objectives.
To foster a culture of learning and engagement, the Ministry has announced that employees who complete the highest number of courses each quarter will be recognized and felicitated. This initiative not only motivates staff to actively participate in their professional development but also reinforces the Ministry’s commitment to cultivating a knowledgeable workforce.
In addition, plans are underway to conduct a comprehensive workshop aimed at communicating the Ministry’s learning plan and departmental strategies effectively across all media units. This workshop will serve as a platform for dialogue, ensuring that all employees are aligned with the Ministry’s goals and objectives.
During the meeting, Dr. Murugan also addressed the handling of grievances and Right to Information (RTI) applications within the Ministry. He underscored the importance of resolving these cases in a timely manner to uphold transparency and accountability in government operations. By prioritizing the resolution of grievances, the Ministry aims to strengthen public trust and confidence in its services.
