New Delhi: Union Minister of Women and Child Development, Annpurna Devi, chaired her first national-level meeting with State Ministers of Women and Child Development/Social Welfare and Administrators/Lieutenant Governors of Union Territories via video conferencing. The meeting, held on 10th August 2024, focused on reviewing the progress of ongoing programs and discussing future strategies for key initiatives under the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
Out of 28 states, 21 State Ministers participated in the meeting, underscoring the importance of collaborative efforts between the Central and State Governments. Annpurna Devi highlighted the Ministry’s flagship programs, including Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0, Mission Vatsalya, and Mission Shakti, stressing their critical role in ensuring the welfare of women and children across India.
“Our aim is to ensure that the benefits of our efforts reach the grassroots level. Close collaboration with the States is imperative, as it will not only lead to the development of the States but also contribute to the overall progress of our country, in line with the Prime Minister’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’,” said Annpurna Devi.
During the meeting, the Union Minister urged State Ministers, Administrators, and Lieutenant Governors to actively collaborate with the Central Government to enhance the implementation of these missions. She emphasized that such collaboration is crucial for realizing the vision of a developed India and ensuring the well-being of women and children nationwide.
State Ministers shared their efforts towards empowering women and ensuring the well-being of children in their respective regions. They appreciated the engagement at the Union Minister’s level, believing it would provide momentum to the implementation of the three missions and complement their ongoing efforts. Annpurna Devi assured them of continued periodic engagement at her level.
