Bhubaneswar: The three-year-old tigress ‘Zeenat,’ relocated from Maharashtra to Odisha’s Similipal Tiger Reserve, has been spotted roaming in the forests of neighboring Jharkhand. The information was shared by Baripada RCCF (Regional Chief Conservator of Forests) Prakash Chand Gogineni on Monday.
Speaking to the media, Gogineni confirmed that the tigress’s movements are under close surveillance. “Our Similipal Tiger Reserve extends into the forests of Jharkhand, and now the tigress is moving through this area into Jharkhand. Our team is actively monitoring her,” he said.
Zeenat was tranquilized in Maharashtra’s Tadoba forest on November 13 before being transported to Odisha. She arrived in the North Division Core Area of Similipal on the night of November 24 and was released into the reserve’s core forest area on November 25 by the Forest Department.
