Bhubaneswar: The 39th National Junior Athletics Championship concluded with a grand closing ceremony at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, showcasing exceptional athletic talent from across the country. Team Haryana emerged as the overall champion, amassing an impressive 303 points, while Tamil Nadu secured the runners-up position with 269 points.
Haryana also clinched top honors in both the men’s and women’s categories, earning 116 and 179 points, respectively, cementing their dominance in the championship.
The host state, Odisha, delivered a stellar performance, securing 11 medals, including six golds, two silvers, and three bronzes. The team’s remarkable achievements highlighted its growing stature in the athletics arena.
The championship witnessed the creation of 20 national records, reflecting the high caliber of talent and competition. Athletes from across India showcased their dedication and skill, setting new benchmarks in junior athletics.
The closing ceremony was graced by prominent dignitaries, including Adille Sumariwalla, President of the Athletics Federation of India; Siddhartha Das, Director of Sports and Youth Affairs Department; Additional Secretary Vijay Kumar Swain; Joint Secretary Vijayananda Nayak; and other senior officials.
The event marked the culmination of an electrifying championship that not only celebrated athletic excellence but also fostered a spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship. The success of the tournament further reinforces Bhubaneswar’s reputation as a hub for hosting premier sporting events in India.
