New Delhi: The Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi served as the venue for the 5th meeting of the Task Force for the Development of Tourism in North East states, convened today. The meeting witnessed extensive deliberations on key strategies aimed at bolstering capacity building, enhancing training policies, and amplifying marketing and promotion efforts to foster tourism development in the North Eastern (NE) region of India.
Representatives from the eight North Eastern states – Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura – joined hands with officials from various ministries, including the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprise, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Culture, and Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. The meeting also saw active participation from esteemed organizations such as the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and other private partners invested in the region’s tourism sector.
The discussion centered on formulating comprehensive strategies to address the multifaceted challenges hindering the optimal growth of tourism in the NE states. Participants exchanged insights and explored innovative approaches to capacity building, emphasizing the importance of enhancing skill development initiatives to meet the evolving needs of the tourism industry.
