Paris: Indian shooter Swapnil Kusale secured a spot in the final medal round of the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions at the Paris Olympics, finishing 7th in the qualification round. His compatriot Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, however, placed 11th, narrowly missing out on advancing.
Swapnil showcased consistent performance across all three positions. He scored 198 points in the Kneeling round, 197 in the Prone round, and 195 in the Standing round, accumulating a total of 590 points with 38 inner 10s. This impressive score secured him the 7th position, allowing him to advance to the final.
Swapnil’s achievement marks him as the 5th Indian shooter to reach a final at the Paris Olympics 2024, following the successes of Manu Bhaker, Arjun Babuta, Sarabjot Singh, and Ramita Jindal. Yukun Liu of China led the qualification round, setting an Olympic record with 594 points and 38 inner 10s.
