Students Undergo Immersive Learning at Auroville in EBSB Programme

Pondicherry: Almost 100 enthusiastic students participating in the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) programme embarked on a transformative three-day immersive learning tour at Auroville, Pondicherry. The students, who traveled by train from various parts of India, commenced their exploration at the Bharat Nivas Campus of Auroville Foundation.

Immersing themselves in the collective silence prevalent in Auroville, the students were greeted by different working groups of Auroville after the lamp-lighting ceremony, including a student from each participating institution. Dr. Jayanti S. Ravi, Secretary of the Foundation, delivered the inaugural address, emphasizing how the principles of the National Education Policy (NEP) and Integral Education are implemented in Auroville.

In an interactive session, Dr. Ravi shared insights into the philosophy and works of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother. She elaborated on Sri Aurobindo’s five dreams, the Mother’s vision for Auroville, and the role of the Gnostic Society. The students were encouraged to stay inspired and focused on realizing their dreams.

The session delved into Auroville’s progress, future endeavors, and its contribution to humanity. The students actively participated in a question-and-answer segment, addressing topics such as balancing spiritual and material needs, the role of the Government in Auroville, the uniqueness of Auroville as a city, and volunteering opportunities.

Throughout the day, the students deepened their understanding of Auroville through visits and interactions. A visit to Sadhana Forest in the evening left a profound impact, showcasing a harmonious and peaceful way of living, aligning with the essence of spirituality, integral education, and yoga.

The Ministry of Education initiated the EBSB programme to underscore the relevance of educational and cultural tours aligned with themes from the NEP, G-20 Leaders’ Declaration, Sri Aurobindo’s 150th Birth Anniversary, and Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat. The program aims to expose youth to spirituality, Sri Aurobindo’s philosophy, and the practical implementation of integral education, with Auroville serving as a unique experiment towards that end. Auroville Foundation, an autonomous organization of the Ministry of Education, organized the program.
