Former Indian men’s test opener and Odia cricketer Shiv Sunder Das has been appointed as the batting coach of senior India Women’s Cricket team for the upcoming tour of England. Abhay Sharma has been named the fielding coach.
Born in Bhubaneswar, Das had represented India in 23 Test matches. Later he started coaching. He was also appointed as the coach of the Barbados cricket team by the West Indies Cricket Association in 2017. He had also worked with the India women’s A team during the 2020 quadrangular series in Patna.
Das has been appointed as the batting coach only for a seven match England tour to start from June 16 to July 15. This includes a Test match, three ODIs and three T20Is.
Excited about the new assignment, he told ESPNcricinfo, “For the first time I have been assigned a job with the India women’s national team, it’s quite exciting for me. I am really looking forward to it.”
