Jajpur: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the Second International Craft Summit in Jajpur through a virtual platform, bringing together national and international delegates to celebrate the rich artistic heritage of Odisha. The summit serves as a global stage for Odisha’s skilled artisans, showcasing their craftsmanship and contributing to the state’s global recognition.
In his address, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik emphasized the integral connection between Odisha’s civilizational journey and the intricate threads of artistic expression. The skills and craftsmanship of the state’s talented artisans have woven an indelible mark into every corner, making art an inseparable part of Odisha’s identity.
“Odisha is the land of Art and Crafts, and this summit will elevate our reputation to an international level,” said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, highlighting the state’s commitment to global outreach. He reiterated the government’s sincere efforts to position Odisha as a global tourist destination, generate livelihoods, provide employment opportunities, and attract investments.
Welcoming the delegates, Chief Minister Patnaik outlined the principles of governance embedded in the 5T Model, emphasizing equitable and inclusive development. He proudly noted that Odisha boasts one of the highest numbers of artisans honored with National Awards, including the prestigious Padma Awards.
Delving into the cultural richness of Jajpur, Chief Minister Patnaik described it as the Ancient Capital of Odisha, adorned with vibrant art forms in paintings, architecture, sculpture, and handicrafts. He highlighted the district’s potential as a major tourist hub, complementing its existing assets in religious and Buddhist tourism with rapid industrial growth.
Rural Development, Skill Development & Technical Education Minister Priti Ranjan Ghadai highlighted Jajpur’s indigenous skills, steadily establishing itself as the Tussar Corridor of India. Handloom, Textile & Handicrafts Minister Reeta Sahu emphasized the government’s unwavering support, including training facilities, for the artisans contributing to the fame of Jajpur in the realm of art and crafts.
