Sargiful Utsav 2024 Begins, Celebrating Tribal Talent and Creativity

Bhubaneswar: The much-anticipated Sargiful Utsav 2024 was inaugurated today in Bhubaneswar, marking a grand celebration of tribal creativity, talent, and cultural heritage. Organized by the ST & SC Development, Minorities & Backward Classes Welfare Department, the three-day festival was formally opened by Rabi Narayan Naik, Minister for PR&DW and Rural Development, in the presence of a distinguished gathering of officials and participants.

Speaking at the event, Naik emphasized the deep cultural importance of the Sargiful or Sal flower in tribal traditions, describing it as a symbol of sustenance and spiritual inspiration. “Tribals have long been nature worshippers, and the Sargiful holds a unique place in their heritage. This festival aims to nurture the creativity and inherent talent of tribal youth, empowering them to represent Odisha on national and international platforms,” he said.

The inaugural event saw students from various districts being honored for their achievements. Among those recognized were Mili Tudu from Jagatsinghpur, Suprabha Naik, Mahesh Mahar, Nandini Naik, Chumki Naik, and Lovely Naik from Kalahandi, Krishna Tudu from Khordha, Suneli Pradhan from Sambalpur, Rashmita Bhatra from Nabarangpur, and Kabita Gamang from Gajapati. Each recipient was awarded a cash prize of ₹5,000, along with certificates and books, celebrating their exceptional accomplishments.

The Minister also inaugurated a state-level science exhibition during the festival, featuring 40 projects presented by 80 students under the guidance of 40 teachers. The exhibition serves as a platform to highlight innovative ideas and explore advancements in science and technology.

Over the next three days, the festival will host a range of workshops in specially designed thematic domes. These workshops will focus on topics such as ocean ecosystem conservation, eco-friendly environments, artificial intelligence, Indian space research, and smart classrooms, offering students a chance to engage with cutting-edge developments while fostering their creative instincts.

The presence of dignitaries, including Dr. Poma Tudu, Director (ST), Laxman Kumar Mallick, Director (SC), Banita Dash, FA-cum-Additional Secretary, and Narayan Dhal, Additional Secretary to the Government, added to the significance of the occasion.
