Bhubaneswar: Reliance Jio has further solidified its position as the leading digital service provider in Odisha, according to the latest telecom subscriber data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). In May 2024, Jio added a remarkable 1.85 lakh new mobile subscribers in the state, making it the only telecom operator to gain subscribers during this period. In contrast, all other service providers experienced a decline in their subscriber bases.
As of May 31, 2024, Reliance Jio’s mobile subscriber count in Odisha has reached approximately 1.55 crores. The overall mobile subscriber base in the state grew by 1.54 lakh, bringing the total number of mobile subscribers in Odisha to 3.38 crores.
Nationally, Jio has also seen impressive growth, adding over 21.95 lakh subscribers in May 2024. This boost takes the total number of mobile subscribers on Jio’s pan-India network to over 47.46 crores, reinforcing its status as the leading digital service provider in the country.
Reliance Jio continues to dominate the Odisha market with a subscriber market share of over 45.7% and a revenue market share of around 52%. This rapid growth is attributed to Jio’s extensive 4G and 5G network coverage across the state and its aggressive expansion into previously unconnected areas.
In addition to its mobile network achievements, Jio has expanded its popular JioAirFiber service across Odisha. JioAirFiber offers a comprehensive digital experience with over 800 digital TV channels, 15+ OTT apps, smart home services, and high-speed broadband. The service addresses last-mile connectivity issues, providing high-quality broadband and home entertainment solutions to homes and small businesses that previously lacked access.
JioAirFiber has become a crucial digital lifeline in numerous towns and villages, ensuring that residents and businesses have access to reliable, high-speed internet and modern entertainment options. This expansion has played a significant role in Jio’s continued dominance in the Odisha telecom market.
