Goa: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi marked a significant milestone today as he inaugurated the integrated Sea Survival Training Centre at the ONGC Institute in Goa. The Prime Minister, accompanied by Chief Minister Shri Pramod Sawant and Union Minister for Petroleum, Oil, and Natural Gas Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, witnessed a demonstration of the training center’s capabilities, including underwater escape exercises.
Taking to X, Prime Minister Modi expressed his delight at dedicating the Sea Survival Centre to the nation. He highlighted the center’s state-of-the-art facilities, characterizing it as a watershed moment for India in the sea survival training ecosystem. The center aims to set new benchmarks in emergency response training, potentially saving numerous lives by ensuring timely and effective responses.
The Prime Minister’s post on X read, “Delighted to dedicate to the nation the Sea Survival Centre of ONGC in Goa. This state-of-the-art Centre is a watershed moment for India in making a mark in the sea survival training ecosystem. Offering rigorous and intense emergency response training, it will ensure many lives are saved in a timely manner.”
The ONGC Sea Survival Centre has been established as a unique and integrated training facility, designed to elevate India’s sea survival training standards to global levels. With the capacity to train 10,000-15,000 personnel annually, the center conducts exercises in simulated and controlled harsh weather conditions, enhancing the sea survival skills of trainees. This preparation significantly increases the likelihood of safe escape from real-life disasters at sea.
The inauguration of this advanced training center reflects India’s commitment to ensuring the safety and preparedness of maritime personnel, contributing to a robust and globally competitive sea survival training ecosystem.
