New Delhi: Immediately following his visit to Ayodhya for the consecration of Suryawanshi Bhagwan Shri Ram, Prime Minister chaired a meeting at his residence at Lok Kalyan Marg to launch the “Pradhanmantri Suryodaya Yojana.” The ambitious scheme aims to install rooftop solar panels on 1 crore houses, promoting sustainable energy practices across the nation.
In the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized the potential of harnessing solar power from every household with a roof. The initiative not only seeks to reduce electricity bills for households but also strives to make them self-reliant (aatmanirbhar) for their electricity needs.
The Pradhanmantri Suryodaya Yojana is geared towards providing electricity to low and middle-income individuals through solar rooftop installations. Additionally, the scheme is designed to incentivize households by offering additional income for surplus electricity generation, promoting a green and financially rewarding energy ecosystem.
During the discussion, the Prime Minister directed the commencement of a nationwide campaign to encourage residential consumers to adopt rooftop solar on a large scale. The campaign aims to raise awareness about the benefits of solar energy and mobilize individuals to actively participate in the transition towards sustainable and clean energy practices.
With the launch of the Pradhanmantri Suryodaya Yojana, the government is taking a significant step towards promoting renewable energy sources and empowering households to contribute to the nation’s energy needs while enjoying economic benefits.
