President Murmu Inaugurates Swami Vivekananda Vidya Mandir in Silvassa

Silvassa: President of India, Droupadi Murmu, inaugurated the Swami Vivekananda Vidya Mandir at Jhanda Chowk in Silvassa today. The inauguration was followed by a public address where she expressed heartfelt gratitude for the warm welcome extended by the people of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, remarking that their hospitality would remain a cherished memory.

During her address, President Murmu acknowledged the progress in education within the Union Territory. She noted the administration’s ongoing efforts, highlighting the establishment of the Government Engineering College in 2018, which offers quality technical education to local students, and the opening of a National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in 2022. “These institutions provide valuable opportunities for the youth,” she said, underscoring the positive impact on skill development and career growth for young people in the region.

The President also recognized the unique historical, cultural, and natural heritage of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman, and Diu, positioning them as attractive tourist destinations. She applauded the government’s efforts to expand tourism infrastructure, emphasizing that growth in this sector not only attracts visitors but also creates employment opportunities for locals. “Tourism fosters interaction with people from diverse backgrounds, helping us grow in generosity and understanding,” she remarked.
